The fear is reasonable.
Land sold that does not exist. A relative or agent who cannot be reached once the money has left. A title that turns out to belong to someone else. For a Nigerian abroad, the hardest part is that you cannot stand on the land or walk into the registry yourself. Our role is to be the person who can, and to put the verification in front of you before you commit a single naira.

How we act for clients abroad

How do I verify a title before I pay?
We conduct the search at the state land registry and chart the survey plan at the surveyor-general's office, then send you the results and documents. You verify before any money moves, not after.
How are documents notarised across borders?
We advise on notarisation and, where a document travels between countries, on any apostille or consular legalisation the receiving authority requires, and the correct order to do them in.
What time zone are you in?
Calabar runs on West Africa Time (WAT, UTC+1). Chambers hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm WAT, and WhatsApp is available to schedule a call that works across your time zone.
How do I pay from abroad?
We confirm acceptable payment methods and issue a formal engagement letter and receipts. As a rule, never pay for land or fees into an individual's personal account without a written engagement. That is how most diaspora land fraud happens.
